Infertility Surgery: Importance, Types of Procedures Involved

IVF, which stands for In Vitro Fertilization, is the form of Assisted Reproductive Technology used for treating infertile couple. It is also referred to as the ?test-tube technique? that follows the process of retrieving sperms from the male and extracting eggs from the female, and then processing the sperm and egg together in the laboratory dish. The embryo is then planted into the uterus of the woman to help her become pregnant.

The reasons of Infertility IVF treatment include damaged or blocked fallopian tubes, genetic disorders in men and women, ovulation disorders, uterine fibroids, premature ovarian failure in women, removed fallopian tubes, male fertility disorders due to lower sperm count and unexplained infertility.

Before the embryo is transferred to the uterus, the woman has to undergo a few basic steps that involve taking the right medications, having blood tests, going through a thorough gynaecology examination and so on.

Doctors follow a few infertility-IVF procedures to enable healthy fertilization of the egg and sperm for growth of the embryo without any complexities involved.

Procedures Involved

The techniques involved for a successful fertility are IVF ICSI with optical spindle view, ICSI and Testicular biopsy, Intrauterine Insemination, IVF and laser assisted hatching, In Vitro fertilization, among others.

ICSI with optical spindle viewing technique allows the specialist to examine the division of cells after combining a sperm and an egg for IVF with intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). Male infertility is treated with ICSI Testicular biopsy that involves taking a sample of tissue from the male testicle and examining if the man can father a child.

Another most significant fertility procedure, called Intrauterine Insemination, increases chances of fertilization through transfer of sperms inside the woman?s uterus. IVF laser assisted hatching, on the other hand, is popularly known for promoting implantation in the uterine wall once the embryo is transferred. However, In Vitro Fertilization is the most popular technique preferred by both couples and fertility specialists to ensure safest way of planting the embryo in the woman?s uterus.
