Infertility Surgery: Importance, Types of Procedures Involved

IVF, which stands for In Vitro Fertilization, is the form of Assisted Reproductive Technology used for treating infertile couple. It is also referred to as the ?test-tube technique? that follows the process of retrieving sperms from the male and extracting eggs from the female, and then processing the sperm and egg together in the laboratory dish. The embryo is then planted into the uterus of the woman to help her become pregnant.

The reasons of Infertility IVF treatment include damaged or blocked fallopian tubes, genetic disorders in men and women, ovulation disorders, uterine fibroids, premature ovarian failure in women, removed fallopian tubes, male fertility disorders due to lower sperm count and unexplained infertility.

Before the embryo is transferred to the uterus, the woman has to undergo a few basic steps that involve taking the right medications, having blood tests, going through a thorough gynaecology examination and so on.

Doctors follow a few infertility-IVF procedures to enable healthy fertilization of the egg and sperm for growth of the embryo without any complexities involved.

Procedures Involved

The techniques involved for a successful fertility are IVF ICSI with optical spindle view, ICSI and Testicular biopsy, Intrauterine Insemination, IVF and laser assisted hatching, In Vitro fertilization, among others.

ICSI with optical spindle viewing technique allows the specialist to examine the division of cells after combining a sperm and an egg for IVF with intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). Male infertility is treated with ICSI Testicular biopsy that involves taking a sample of tissue from the male testicle and examining if the man can father a child.

Another most significant fertility procedure, called Intrauterine Insemination, increases chances of fertilization through transfer of sperms inside the woman?s uterus. IVF laser assisted hatching, on the other hand, is popularly known for promoting implantation in the uterine wall once the embryo is transferred. However, In Vitro Fertilization is the most popular technique preferred by both couples and fertility specialists to ensure safest way of planting the embryo in the woman?s uterus.

Infertility Treatments

ICSI + Testicular Biopsy

Testicular Biopsy with ICSI (Intracytoplasmic sperm injection) enables to treat sperm-related infertility. The biopsy is done to evaluate the reason for male infertility. The reasons for testicular biopsy include adequate production of sperms in the male semen and hormonal test ...

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

Intrauterine Insemination works successfully in cases of sperm quality issues. It is a fertility treatment that includes planting sperm into a woman’s uterus to help in fertilization. The procedure is less invasive and subsequently less inexpensive than most of the other ...

IVF (In Vitro Fertilization)

It is one of the most popular medical procedures that enables the eggs and the sperm to fuse in the laboratory before planting the embryo in the woman’s uterus. IVF is regarded the most effective and successful form of ART (assisted reproductive technology). Before IVF ...

IVF + ICSI With Optical Spindle View

IVF assisted ICSI optical Spindle View procedure allows the embryologist to monitor the cell division after the fusion of a sperm and an egg. The specialist evaluates if the embryo is growing naturally and is healthy. Once it is detected that the embryo is healthy, it is placed ...

IVF With Egg Donation

Many women who seek facilities of assisted reproductive technologies use donor eggs. These are women above 45 years of age or those who fail to produce adequate healthy eggs. IVF with egg donation helps boost fertility, allowing couples to have babies successfully despite age ...

IVF With Laser Assisted Hatching

Laser assisted hatching is a technique followed to create a gap in the middle of the shell of the embryo before it is transferred to the female uterus. The small slit allows the embryo to hatch out safely. IVF with laser hatching procedure is considered a much safer process than ...

IVF/ICSI (intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection)

The procedure helps to treat sperm-related problems. ICSI assisted IVF increases the fertilization phase in IVF. During ICSI procedure, a sperm is injected into a mature egg and after the egg is fertilized, it is placed in the woman’s uterus. The procedure is performed on ...

IVF/ICSI + Donor Sperms

ICSI helps boost In Vitro Fertilization process. Acute infertility of sperms is treated with frozen or fresh sperms taken from the donor. With the aid of the procedure of ICSI, the healthy sperm is injected in a matured egg. After the fusion, the embryo is planted into the ...
